Philosophy
The Woodhouse Counseling Philosophy is grounded in the understanding that counseling was never meant to “fix” anyone.
Other practitioners may debate this, but counseling cannot give you a “new life”. What counseling can do is alleviate distressing symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, etc., and improve your relationships. The power of counseling is helping you accept your imperfections and failures and of course, the imperfections of life. Our core treatment belief is that you can find peace and happiness through gaining perspective, understanding, acceptance and being open to the possibilities that surround us.
Much of our journey to live a beautiful life is found in the process of learning and relearning. As such, there are normal ebbs and flows of life with certain significant stops along the way. Gaining insight into your own mental health is a very important stop. Unfortunately, mental health skills are rarely ever taught in school. Mood skills are just as important as math skills, right?
We can guide you through most of the difficulties you face. This won’t be the last stop on your journey but we can help you along your way.
