High Performance Counseling (Sports and Business Professionals) focuses on helping individuals learn, understand, develop a growth mindset and mental flexibility .
High Performance Counseling involves a holistic approach that focuses on an individual’s physical, mental, and emotional health. The approach places an emphasis on creating a reflective, growth oriented environment that promotes the exploration, evaluation, a deeper understanding of personal values, and alignment with actionable processes in order to improve well-being, and ignite personal growth.
I have been actively involved in “high performance” endeavors my entire career in a variety of roles:
Professional Counselor: Experience in education and private practice as a professional counselor. I am a counseling practice owner/ partner with Royce Woodhouse, and together we are in the process of constructing new offices and growing a dynamic counseling team. My education extends beyond a Masters degree, having earned an Ed.S Counseling degree.
Corporate Business: Twelve years of corporate business experience including being selected for a management track at Kohler Co. that included completion of an MBA- Global management degree. Responsible for opening a new regional wholesale distribution network for AZEK across 6 states.
Professional Coaching and Program Developer: Lifetime involved in all aspects of competitive tennis coaching, highlighted by:
- NCAA Division 1 Head Men’s Tennis coach for Idaho State University (earning Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year. Creating a culture of academic success with 10 of 11 players earning Masters degrees in a 5 year period).
- Developing the Peak Tennis Training Program (Published author and program creator)
- Director of Tennis at Sun Valley (including Allen & Co. Conference)
- USPTA Elite level coaching certification.
Elite Athlete: Sport provides a microcosm for life and creates many opportunities to “experience” multiple stressors and opportunities. As such I try and “walk the walk” and have consistently pushed my personal performance boundaries in order to improve understanding, and relatability to all aspects of performance. My personal experiences includes:
- Nationally ranked tennis player since youth. Competed as a NCAA Division 1 student athlete. Continued to compete, highlighted by earning a #1 Men’s Open Tennis ranking in Idaho at age of 40.
- Elite level masters cyclist, competing in multiple US National championships, SA National Championships, and qualifying for the UCI GF Masters World Championships.
- Overcome Challenge following an accident at the 2022 US Master Nationals (comminuted fractured pelvis, comminuted fractured left clavicle, fractured ribs (Left 3-8), fractured left hand, and punctured left lung), and subsequent return 1 year later at the 2023 US Masters Nationals.
